Northern Virginia Special Olympics is looking for a volunteer to help start this program. If you are interested in helping us please go to the volunteer section of this website to learn more about volunteering.
To be eligible for this program an athlete must be registered with Special Olympics Virginia. Please visit the “Become an Athlete” section of this website for registration details.
Special Olympics Volleyball is a fall sport and runs for a minimum of eight weeks. The program includes training for individual skills competition to develop basic volleyball skills. The development of these key skills is necessary prior to advancing to team competition. Skills include volleying, serving and passing.
As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped in competition divisions according to ability level and age.

The following volleyball events provide meaningful competition for athletes with lower ability levels:

* Volleyball Toss and Hit
Volleyball teams and individual skill athletes are selected by random drawing to participate in Special Olympics Virginia State Championships. All registered athletes are eligible to participate in area events.
