Sailing Calendar

Do you love being on the water? Do you want a challenge?
Special Olympics Sailing in Northern Virginia provides training and competition in the sport of sailing as well as travel and socializing opportunities for Special Olympic Athletes!

Special Olympic sailing is a Unified Sports in which athletes team up with partners without intellectual disabilities to form a competitive sailing crew.  Teams compete at different Sailing Levels, which permit athletes to participate in the handling and control of the boat according to their physical and mental ability.

Who: Athlete shall be able to swim a minimum of 10 meters while wearing a Personal Floatation Device. Athlete shall be seizure free, with the aid of medication, for a minimum of one year.

When Monday nights beginning Mid June through July from 6PM to Dusk.

Competition:
• Maryland State Regatta St. Mary's College July 26 and 27
• Northern Virginia State Regatta July 19 or 20 at Washington Sailing Marina
• Rhode Island State Regatta Third Weekend in September
•Participation in training and competition events is subject to the availability of boats and/or partners.
