    COACHES INFORMATION

Welcome to the Special Olympics Virginia, Northern Virginia Coaching Manual. We hope
that you find many items of interest, whether you are an experienced coach or a brand new
coach with no idea where to start. Good coaches are the lifeblood of any sporting
organization – Special Olympics is no exception. At all age and skill levels, Special Olympics
coaches are volunteers. Playing experience is not a requirement for coaching; however,
good sportsmanship, a desire to learn the sport and time to attend practice and games are
necessary. The manual was created to give insight into the requirements that must be
fulfilled to have an enjoyable coaching experience in Special Olympics.
